Why I am working in potential

At 9pm, with my son (1 year old baby Jaeha) sleeping next to me, I came to watch a youtube short.

It was about an Ukraine Soldier who has wife and son like me.

He had to send his wife and kid to safe place and need to join army.

He didn't want to make his family sad.

He made his son laugh by chasing after the departing train in as ridiculous a pose as possible so as not to make the moment of parting sad.

His son laughed but his wife cried.

This video made myself feel two kinds of emotion

• What am I gonna do, If I'm a dad in the video
• I'm lucky

After watching video, I remembered something I'd forgotten for a long time

• What is meaning of life
• Why am I doing this (Working in Potential)

 

I worked in Potential so busy that sometimes I forgot why I am doing this.

After watching the video, I thought deeply about why I do what I do.

 

First 1-2 year of Potential

I just wanted show that my hypothesis is right. I thought that The Country - Bangladesh was under-evaluated. and It has great Potential to growth. First 1-2 years, It wasn't easy but I could meet wonderful team members. There were good news and bad news, but I've pushed hard myself and our team to grow our company.

One Question Arised : Why should I grow my company?

I know that this is ridiculous question. I know that Growing is Mission / Purpose / Destiny of All companies. but I didn't ask this question to myself and think deeply. 

• Am I growing my company to make more money?
  • Why should I make more money? 
    • Do I need to make more money to buy bigger house?
    • Do I need to make more money to bring my children to private school?
• Am I growing my company to be famous?
  
  • why should I be famous?

I don't want to be a hypocrite. Money and Fame can be a reason for growing company. but It was not enough.
If  were  a Ukraine Father that needs to join army leaving family, Money and Fame'd not be enough reasons for growing Potential

 

Why am I doing this?

I asked myself. Tbh, I know that I can't impact the world with Potential. (There are tons of software / design agency like us. Even if Our Company, potential, disappears suddenly, Nobody Knows) 

But

At Least, I can change life of our Team members. I always feel appreciated to our team. They've betted on our company which has less than 2 years history. Our company is not Meta, Open AI and Nvidia so we don't gurantee any financial success but anyway, Our team has chosen Potential. Only way I can pay back to them is Educating them and Making them Top Tier.

 

Higher Salary, Good Benefits are all good but they have short term effect in life. But Education has the Biggest Leverage and Impact. If I teach our developers, designers, pm properly, they can achieve anything in the world. and also it will impact their kids and family.

 

• They can switch to better job than our company
• They can start their own business
• They can have top tier network among potential team member
• They can also educate their kids in better directions.

 

If it's the reason why I'm doing Potential, Working in Potential's worth it.

Even if there's a war in Korea five years from now and I end up as a soldier, it's worth it
